Tears in the Wild: A Message for the World

Ritta’s tear-bright eyes met mine in Kumana National Park, Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. In that quiet hour, we kept our distance—he was free to roam, and I was reminded: this planet was theirs long before it was ours.

Let’s choose guardianship over greed. Let’s stop deforestation, protect wild corridors, and give every creature the space to live wild and free. Support the rangers and communities who defend these lands. Reduce what we take. Restore what we’ve broken. And when we meet the wild—watch with respect, not possession.

This is a call to the world: return to nature, stand up for those who cannot speak, and keep forests standing—for Ritta, and for all who belong there.
